100th day: UPCYCLED TUCAN!

Today is the end of my 100 days of urban art challenge! That’s what I learned: I improved my english skills, I learned to observe my environment more detailed, It helped me with my daily routine. I liked the compromise with myself and the others. I am sure that it will inspire me in the future in my design process.
I really appreciate your coments and likes, which encouraged me to go on day by day.
See you soon for a new project:-)

98th day: Santa Diversita!…

98th day: SANTA DIVERSITA! …
… Is part of the screen printing poster series on the topic “Modern Saints,” on which the artist duo Various & Gould has worked for 2 years. These “modern Saints” should raise awareness for social problems, such as migration, change of work conditions, exclusion and (sexual) identity. The artists asked themselves, for which of the today acute problems one could need new saint. After the terrible madness of Orlando we need holy “Santa Diversità” more than ever!

97th day: Anne Frank painted by Jimmy C.

97th day: ANNE FRANK painted by Jimmy C.
Nothing has shown me so impressively the madness of the Nazis as the diary of Anne Frank, which I read at the age of 12. Suddenly I realized that many people who were around me have lived in the Third Reich and some of them could have been perpetrators. During this time I was ashamed to reveal my nationality every time I traveled to other countries. Recently I read the diary again and have discovered a quite different dimension, that I could not recognize at the age of 12: Anne Frank has turned from a girl to a young woman in the 2 years in which she wrote the diary. She had an incredible literary skill and thought about many universal themes. It is impressive that she already could develop such a profound philosophical perspective on things in such a young age.
Jimmy C. painted her in his very own style in front of the Anne Frank Museum in Berlin.

92nd day: Burger with addictive potential! – Food comes first, than morals!

92nd day: Burger with addictive potential! – Food comes first, than morals!
I really didn’t like Burgers until my son took me to the right place: the Burgeramt in my neighborhood. The name is an ironical hint towards the Bürger Amt wich is a very important institucion you get to know very fast if you move to Germany. The Bürger Amt is responsible for your registration and almost every paper you need. The Bürger Amt knows where you are living and if your apartment is on the left or right side of the aisle, how many children you have and if you pay the taxes for your dog. The Burger Amt around the Corner just offers the most delicious Burger one can imagine! Don’t forget to order the french fries made of sweet potatoes!

85th day: St. Redundus – Saint of the homeless and unemployed

85th day: ST. REDUNDUS – Saint of the homeless and unemployed
Located next to the Market Nr. IX, a man suddenly was looking at me: in one hand he is holding an Aldi plastic bag with empty collected bottles. In the other hand he holds a glass sphere in which apparently is hidden his dream of a better life. The man has bad teeth and his shoes hardly cover his feet. I stopped and looked at this picture thoughtfully. How many homeless are living in Berlin? What happened to their lives to get there? What have they experienced? Are they still dreaming of a better life?
This modern devotional picture forms part of a canon of Saints made by the Berlin artist duo Various & Gould. (see interview below).
